Nominated Governor Safeguarding Training
Most schools recognise the importance of the Governing Body nominating an individual governor to champion safeguarding and child protection issues within the school. This person is often known as the “Safeguarding Governor”. It is important that such governors fully understand the responsibilities of this role and the part they can play in monitoring and helping to develop more effective practices.
This course is therefore suitable for these nominated safeguarding governors to enable them to further understand ways in which the school can ensure that they safeguard the children who attend.
It is essential that the governor has already undertaken “Introduction to Safeguarding and Child Protection” training prior to this session.
- To be aware of the key areas of responsibility of a school for keeping children safe;
- To gain understanding of the role and responsibilities of the Governing Body with regard to safeguarding;
- To consider how to effectively monitor safeguarding practices within school and help to improve practices and procedures.
