Safeguarding for Governors
Safeguarding Children is everybody’s responsibility and it is therefore recommended that all governors undertake basic training about safeguarding to ensure that they have the knowledge and information needed to help perform their functions and undertake their responsibilities effectively.
This session will provide the basic awareness needed so that governors understand the importance of this area for Northamptonshire schools.
(Introduction to Safeguarding session must have been attended)
Most schools recognise the importance of the Governing Body nominating an individual governor to champion safeguarding and child protection issues within the school. This person is often known as the “Safeguarding Governor”. It is important that such governors fully understand the responsibilities of this role and the part they can play in monitoring and helping to develop more effective practices.
