This course runs from September 2017 through to May 2018. On registering you will receive an email with an attachment to allow you to choose your preferred sessions.  Book Sessions 1-3 :  3x2 hour sessions to assist with termly planning and preparation including a free support resource disc.

Ongoing Support to meet the statutory requirement to teach a foreign language throughout Key Stage 2. All courses are based on the latest Programmes of Study for Key Stage 2. All courses are suitable for primary practitioners (classroom teachers / teaching assistants / initial teacher trainees) who wish to start teaching French in Key Stage 2 or who are faced with teaching French to a new year group. The materials can be used by absolute beginners and aim to train the teacher as well as teach the children.

This full day course meets the statutory requirements of the two-year Refresher Training for Designated Safeguarding Leads in schools.

As part of the arrangements which must be in place as required by S.175/S.157 of the Education Act 2002 and “Keeping Children Safe in Education” all schools must have a member of the leadership team as their Designated Safeguarding Lead.

This person must take lead responsibility for dealing with child protection issues, referring concerns of significant harm, providing advice and guidance to support all staff to carry out their safeguarding duties, overseeing the school provision of early help and liaising with other agencies as required.

The Designated Safeguarding Lead must receive training which gives them the knowledge and skills needed to fulfil their responsibilities and this training must be updated every two years. The course that we have planned meets these statutory requirements.

The purpose of this training is to moderate standards in reading, writing and mathematics at year 4. Please bring the following to the session:

  • 3 work books of writing for pupils working towards the standard; at the standards and deepening the standard (nine in total)
  • 3 workbooks for mathematics for pupils working towards the standard; at the standard and deepening the standard (nine in total)
  • Reading records and samples of evidence for the class

‘P4C’, Philosophy for Children is an exceptionally powerful tool for developing thinking. It is a collaborative, democratic activity that is of proven value in building self and mutual respect in participants as well as improving the level of their thinking. The method is suitable for all KS and functions well across the curriculum. Recent Education Endowment Fund (EEF) findings confirm that attainment and behaviour are positively influenced by P4C and a greater improvement in less socially advantaged children than in others was measured. Inspire is pleased to offer a certificated Level 1 Foundation Course to staff in its member schools This is a two-day, non-residential course, it focuses on the theory and practice of P4C, and aims to provide delegates with sufficient understanding to facilitate philosophical enquiries with their own learners.

Sessions : 3 session Development Programme for Teaching Assistants plus an introduction session for Inclusion and Senior Leaders

All sessions must be attended to qualify to training others.

IMPROVEMENT FOCUS

Facilitator Teaching Assistants - A cascade programme to train Key Teaching Assistants from your school to train all of your TA staff on strategies to accelerate the progress of pupils.  Participants have to be confident to train other TAs in your setting.

A Mindfulness Curriculum for Primary School Pupils.  A four- day programme.  Delegates must attend all four days to qualify.  There is an application process for this training. Train to teach mindfulness to children and have access to a primary based mindfulness curriculum. Target is Practitioners who have completed Foundations in Mindfulness training and developed a personal practice for 6 months.
