We often ask children to pay attention but do we ever teach them how to actually do this? Over the past two years, a number of our schools have been involved in teaching mindfulness to children; this involves engaging teachers in mindfulness practice as well as teaching children a range of strategies help them direct their attention to experiences 'in the moment'. In preparation for training to teach mindfulness, through the Paws b curriculum and 'The Present' Inspire offers foundations training.

Event runs over TWO days (Friday and Monday)

All of our schools have pupils who have attachment difficulties.  The evidence categorically indicates that these children and young people significantly underachieve unless they receive support and intervention.  Children can experience attachment difficulties as a consequence of trauma which may be caused by: parental absence or unavailability, parental depression, domestic abuse, children affected by migration, alcoholism in the family or removal from the birth home as is the case for looked after children.  Some children with autism can also experience attachment difficulties.

All schools understand that they must provide Statutory Information to parents and carers. This information is verified by OFSTED and other authorities to ensure that the school complies with the necessary regulations. But, other additional ideas which schools can adopt which can reinforce this key information and make it more accessible and friendly from a website visitor perspective?

This coaching session will cover the necessary governmental requirements and will also include the local needs of County Council and Church school expectations. It will then extend to encompass discussions and ideas about the best way to present this information and also will introduce innovative ideas to complement the statutory needs.

This session will be run by Chris Elliott, website designer and online technologist who has been working with a large number of Northamptonshire primary and secondary schools on their website presence. His ideas and enthusiasm will give the participants food for thought about how they can energise their website presence with new information to help parents and carers understand exactly what is happening across the School.
